MedalMounting.ca is happy to announce to our customers that we are able to provide the new Rotation Bars to the Southwest Asia Service Medal (SWASM), the General Campaign Star (GCS), and the General Service Medal (GSM).

While the instructions that have come out are somewhat confusing, we have studied them extensively, as well as consulted with the Directorate of Honours and Recognition, and are happy to advise our customers on the new procedures for the new bars, as well as any new medals you may be entitled to.

We have all the appropriate ribbon material for the three GCS and GSM medals - Allied Force (AF), Southwest Asia (SWA), and Expedition (EXP) - in both full size and miniature.

Any member who was issued a GCS or GSM must have the "ISAF/FIAS" bar removed from their medal. This is easily done with an exacto knife or other sharp implement - simply run it under the bar where your previous mounter sewed it to your set. You are to turn it into your Orderly Room.
If you are entitled to Rotation bars based on your time in theatre, your OR will order in the bars and give them to you for re-mounting on to your set.

For the SWASM, if you served more than 210 days in a SWASM-authorized mission, you will be entitled to a Rotation Bar(s). The AFGHANISTAN bar remains on your medal.

In some cases, members who had to turn in their GSM in order to be issued a GCS or SWASM will be reissued a GSM.

Thankfully, the CF will pay for the re-mounting of your full size medals. The reimbursable amount is $8.00 per medal, bar, and numeral on your set. While we normally charge $10.00 per medal for mounting, we only charge what is reimbursable by the crown to current CF members.

If you don't want to wait for the Roto Bars to be issued, we do have replica full size Rotation Bars on hand, at a cost of $10.00 each.

For your miniature sets, we have both the silver and gold mini Rotation Bars, which we would be pleased to add on to your current mini medals.
Unfortunately, in most cases sets will have to be taken apart and re-mounted.
